My First Time Deep Sea Fishing

My brother Daniel called me at 11:30 at night and says, "Hey my group had someone drop out from our deep sea fishing trip tomorrow. Do you want to come?... Great be here at 6:00 a.m." It takes about an hour to get down to Galveston from my house, but I made the drive and had a blast.

We went 80 miles out into the gulf (that took four hours!) and then threw in our lines and they started biting like crazy. You could almost guarantee a catch with every cast. We caught some awesome red snapper and had a good time!

I caught the largest fish in our group!

Our Triathlon

Hi everyone, it's Julie! I promised Doug I would be more involved in our blog, so this is me making an effort. But be prepared- this is from my point of view- that's why I titled this post "OUR triathlon". While he was the only one registered and competing, I had my share of obstacles.

To start off, Doug tackled the rough waters. I tackled the humid 98 degree heat (this picture is very misleading- it looks nice but it was unbearable)

Then, Doug broke his personal swimming record by 8 minutes! I broke my sunglasses (sorry, picture's pretty dark).

Unfortunately, Doug strained his calf in the bike portion and I strained my feet- they turned red and kinda swelled (I knew the day would come!)

And in the end, Doug finished the tough race. He loved it, and I loved seeing him love it!

All in all, we had a great day and plan to do it again soon!

The Historic Stockyards: Ft. Worth, TX

I didnt' believe it at first, but yes...that is a cowboy riding a longhorn down the street
I was recently in Fort Worth for a work conference and I stayed at a hotel right by the Historic Stockyards and I saw some cool things. They also had some great BBQ!
Even the shopping looks like a big barn...really cool!
